I t's quite difficult to spend more than £5 on a taxi which will take you from one side of the city to the other...
The initial charge for 'black-cabs' in the city centre is £1.80 with 20 pence added for each additional passenger. The bill rises in 20 pence increments for each third of a mile travelled.
With the city centre spread over a 3 mile diameter, you can figure out that the average taxi fare around the city is between £3-£5. A taxi from the city centre to Manchester Airport currently costs about £14.50 in average traffic conditions.
